Dedicated Short Codes:
Common Short Codes (CSCs), usually referred to as Short Codes (shortcodes),
are short mobile phone numbers--usually five or six digits in the
USA--to which consumers can send SMS Text Messages, using their
mobile phones.
Common uses of Shortcodes include alert services, contests, coupons,
and opt-in marketing lists. Short Codes make it easy for consumers
to respond to and engage with your advertising and marketing
programs.
In addition to speed and ease of use, Common Short Codes provide
consumers with an unparalleled level of control, as all CSC-based
mobile marketing programs must be Opt-In.
There are two kinds of short codes: Dedicated Short Codes and Shared
Short Codes.
Shared Shortcodes are more appropriate for small businesses and
individuals looks to implement small, locally focused mobile
marketing programs. Click here for more information about Shared
Short Codes.
A dedicated short code is reserved for a single customer. A
dedicated short code must be setup with and approved by all of the
major cellular carriers. The cellular carriers do not deal directly
with businesses and individuals who are in the market for a
dedicated short code; instead they require you to go through a third
party. If you are interested in a dedicated short code, Club Texting
can walk you through the entire process, from conception to
application, all the way to message delivery.
